About this Pattern
Designed to celebrate the new growth of spring. The beautiful Willow Leaf lace pattern reminds me of the new buds that emerge from the ends of Douglas Fir tree boughs each May. And the beaded picot bind-off looks a bit like drops of rain, which is synonymous with spring in the Pacific Northwest.

Yarn | Yardage
Approximately 200 g of single ply fingering weight yarn (860 yards / 780 m) for the body of the shawl, and 10 g (43 yards / 40 m) of a contrasting coloured fingering weight yarn for the contrast border and picot bind-off.

Kinfolk Yarn and Fiber custom dyed a pretty colourway for this design, which she calls “Seedling.” The slightly rustic single ply base gives the shawl a lovely organic feel.

Gauge
20 sts over 4” (10 cm) n the Willow Leaf lace pattern with 4.5 mm (US 7) needles after blocking.

Sizing | Final Measurements
Pattern comes in one size, and final measurements after blocking: wingspan (54”), depth at centre (27”) after blocking.

Difficulty
This pattern is suitable for an advanced knitter who is familiar with provisional cast-on, lace knitting on both the right and wrong side rows, I-Cord bind-off, Kitchener stitch, and placing beads for a beaded bind-off.

Pattern Notes
This shawl is knit from the bottom up, beginning with a provisional cast-on. Three lace patterns flow into one another following regularly spaced decreases sections. After the body of the shawl is finished, provisionally cast-on stitches are picked up and a beaded picot bind-off completes the shawl.
