Needles: Size 3.25mm or size needed to obtain gauge

Yarn: Fingering Weight 1 yarn. Sample knit in Baah Yarn La Jolla, 1 skein each color. Approx 800 yards total. 400 yards C1, 400 yards C2.

Gauge: 26 st/64 rows = 4” in mosaic garter (not super important, gauge is after blocking, see notes)

Finished Shawl: Width (wingspan): 70”, Length (top to tip): 13” 

Niamh’s garden shawl is a celebration of texture and elegant simplicity. I designed it in collaboration with Baah Yarn, as they so kindly provided the yarn for the pattern. This mosaic knitting shawl has a sweeping, shallow crescent shape which wraps comfortly around your shoulders while remaining lightweight enough to wear throughout the seasons. Inspired by a summer garden and the Irish name Niamh (said Neev’s rhymes with leaves), the shawl captures a sense of quiet beauty and movement.

This shawl is worked with Baah Yarn La Jolla. This yarn is a luxurious 100% superwash merino fingering weight yarn. The pattern uses simple slipped stitches with the garter stitch to create intricate looking colorwork without ever having to work with more than one color in a row. This makes it an enjoyable project for knitters looking to explore mosaic knitting or expand their skills.

I designed Niamh’s Garden Shawl using two coordinating color, but the possibilities are endless. Whether you choose soft romatic hues, a fall flower bouquet, or bold, high contrast combinations, your shawl will turn out gorgeous!
