This shawl is one of the favorite things I ever knitted. The trapeze shape creates the perfect proportion of length and width and can be worked in any yarn and size you like. A perfect project for a luxurious yarn like ROAD TO CHINA LIGHT or a hank in a special hand dyed yarn.
I had the honor to design the SUPERNOVA cardigan for The Fibre Co in 2022 and when I finished, I had a little left-over yarn and immediately thought about a matching hat. One year later I designed the matching shawl and be sure, this will not be the last design of the NOVAseries.

sample 1: The Fibre Co. Road to China Light
Finished length: 128 cm (50.5 inches)
Finished width: 31 cm (12.25 inches)
This shawl can be made with any yarn weight, gauge and matching needle size.

sample 2: uses fingering weight yarn (400m/ 100g
dimensions: 140 cm x 35 cm

sample 3: uses cardiff cashmere classic ( 110m / 25g)
200m ( 2 balls) in 591 runner (mintgreen)
dimensions: 104 cm x 28 cm

NEEDLES
Circular needles in sizes 3,5 (US 4) or size to obtain gauge, with a length of at least 60 cm (24 inches)

for sample 3 needle 4,0mm (US 6) was used

GAUGE
28 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm (4 in) measured over The Moving Broken Rib Stitch after blocking.
It’s recommended to cast on the shawl with yarn and matching needle size, after a few cm you can wash and block or steamblock the shawl to see if you like gauge and the fabric you created.

The Fibre Co. Road to China Light (65% alpaca, 15% silk, 10% cashmere, 10% camel; 145 m (158 yd) per 50g hank) in Agate

METRES NEEDED
2 hanks Road to China light, (around 280m (305 yds) of a sportweight yarn) -->Yardage may vary a bit from knitter to knitter, yarn to yarn! Have always a bit more in stock to be on the safe side.

YOU NEED
Stitch markers (at least 5) // Tapestry needle

GRÖSSE

Das Tuch kann in jeder gewünschten Garnstärke, Maschenprobe und passender Nadelstärke angefertigt werden.

NADELN
Rundstricknadeln 3,5mm oder Nadeln passend zum Garn, mit einer Seillänge von wenigstens 60 cm

MASCHENPROBE
28 M x 30 R auf 10 x10 cm im MOVING BROKEN RIB PATTERN, gewaschen und gespannt gemessen.
Es wird empfohlen das Tuch anzuschlagen und einige cm zu arbeiten. Wenn das erzielte Ergebnis von der Optik und Haptik überzeugt, einfach weitermachen. Ist es zu fest / locker einfach eine größere / kleinere Nadel wählen und erneut starten.
