One of my first stops at the h + h trade show in Chicago last May was the cowgirlblues. I had designed a pair of socks for a friend’s birthday, and she had asked me to write up the pattern for her. I used a skein of Proper Sock for that project, and I knew that I wanted it for this pair.

The sock uses the Fleegle heel construction (see Sharon Levering’s article on Fleegle heels) and has a Bavarian stitch pattern on the instep which is repeated on the back leg of the sock cuff once the heel is complete.

Note that the stitch patterns used have different pattern multiples, and the charts show just one pattern repeat for each chart. For that reason, I have graded this pattern as complex.
