This was the Mystery sock for the September 2013 Sockdown in the Sock Knitters Anonymus group, i.e. the SKA MOCK.

This is also a part of the Claire Ellen Sock Club. Membership details can be found here. Membership in the club is NOT a prerequisite to knitting THIS sock, which is available free to anyone who wants it.

Installments of the pattern will be on Sundays as follows:
1 Sept: Cuff
8 Sept: Leg
15 Sept: Heel Flap, Heel Turn & Gusset
22 Sept: Foot & Toe

Pattern notes & Notions: This pattern is designed to make the most use of the more wildly variegated yarns with strong contrasts. The pattern is simple enough-- moss stitch and some simple ribbing sections, but the bold lines give the colors in a crazy yarn a chance to shine. I’ve included both charts and written directions for each step. You’ll want to have a stitch marker to note the beginning of the round and a tapestry needle to Kitchener up the toe, but there aren’t any other notions I’d say are essential.

Recommended Yarn: Go crazy. There are absolutely no restrictions on color, variegation, tonal, self-striping-- whatever! In a more subdued solid color, these could be a nice basic business sock. With a skein of awkwardly pooling clown barf, these could be a definite fashion statement.

Ooooh, Options: I included an option for a more subtle cuff, so folks who don’t want to startle others with their footwear can enjoy the pattern as well.

Lastly, and to me, most importantly, thanks, THANKS, THANKS to the knitters who tested this. You all know who you are, and you have a special place in my heart for your help.
