The Paeonia shawl is a half-circle shawl knit from the center out. After a row of decorative yarn overs, a knitted-on edging is added at the end to create a soft border inspired by the peony flower. Live stitches are knit with border stitches to bind off as you go!

Materials Needed

Approximately 450-500 yards of DK weight yarn.

Sample is shown in Illimani Santi I in colorway “Sunset” (4 skeins)- a blend of Merino, Yak, Alpaca and Silk. If using 100% wool or other fibers, block aggressively to achieve that drapey fabric.

Note: total yardage does not include a gauge swatch. If you plan to swatch please plan accordingly and order extra yardage.

US 6 (4 mm) 40” knitting needle, or size needed to achieve gauge

2 stitch markers to indicate increases

Darning needle, wool wash, pins, and blocking boards, for finishing
