Yarn: Jamieson & Smith Jumperweight Shetland (1oz/28g; 150yds/137m; wool) 4 skeins each: Dark Brown Fleck FC44 (A), Spice Fleck 1281 (B), Cafe au lait FC17 (C); 3 skeins Darkest Chocolate 5 (D); 2 skeins Med Brown FC60 (E); 1 skein each: Oatmeal F202 (F) and Straw FC43 (G).

Needles:
* Size 5 (3.75mm) needles in regular and double-pointed (dpn) or size to obtain gauge

Extras:

• Small amount smooth (preferably cotton) contrasting color waste yarn)
• Stitch markers
• Two spare needles, smaller than working needles
• Two ½“ buttons or I-Cord buttons (see p. 99).

Blocked Gauge: Each square, worked in Chart 1, using size 5 (3.75mm) needles measures 7” x 7”.

Options:

1. If you would like to use different colors, use the placement diagrams to “color” on and plan the placement of your colors. Each triangle takes approx 25 yds of yarn and each color used for I-Cord edging take approx 75 yds.
2. You may make each square, joining squares as you go, using Rick Mondragon’s sliding loop technique for joining, so there is very little seaming to do. The technique is explained in general on this page; see p. 99 for how to use it to join the squares.
3. You make make each square separately and then sew them together, working in one-half st from edge and checking flexibility of seams carefully. This will result in garment being less than 1” smaller around and slightly shorter than specified.
