I designed a skirt and top for the Spring 2016 Cast On and even at that time, I thought a version of this design in children’s sizes would be fun. I found the perfect color in the perfect yarn. While the adult version was a straight skirt and a sleeveless crop top worked in a linen blend, I wanted a fuller shirt with an A-line top with slightly belled sleeves. I needed a sturdier yarn to provide shape for the skirt and top. Anzula’s Gerty in the color Butter was just what I wanted.

Both the skirt and top feature a picot hem. Although the skirt is worked top down and the top is worked bottom up, the same technique is recommended to secure the hem to the garment. Video links are provided in the pattern.

Please note that the design is sized for children ages 4, 6, 8, and 10. There are also two adult sizes, Extra Small and Small. Extra Small is comparable to Child’s size 12, and Small is comparable to Child’s size 14. Select the size based on the measurements of the recipient.
