This unusual textured check scarf is knitted on the bias by increasing at one side and decreasing at the other. It is worked in two pieces which are either sewn or grafted together.

The elements in the Plaid scarf were inspired by the tartans and pleats in the iconic Scottish kilt. It can be worn by either men or women and is a really versatile design that can also be draped and fastened with a pin - try a lucky heather brooch or traditional kilt pin. No sporran required.

18cm (7ins) wide at back neck x 160cm (63ins) long

5 x 50g balls of Blacker Swan Falklands Merino Blend DK in Sea-green

If you are using a different yarn to the one suggested, you will need approx 550m of DK yarn.

This pattern is designed with Stitchmastery charts.

I blogged about the Plaid Scarf back in 2013 when it was first published in Knit Now magazine. You can read about it here.
