Anni Howard
Hi, I’m Anni. I create garment and accessory designs to help knitters produce something simple but fun to use and to wear. My knitters want to learn a new technique, are not afraid to experiment and adapt patterns, and share my love of different textile techniques. Is this you too?
A bit about me
After gaining a degree in textiles I worked at a yarn spinning company before collaborating with yarn and fibre companies, book publishers and magazines. I am now an independent knit and textile designer working from my studio in Colchester, UK, close to the Essex estuaries and coastal salt marshes. The faded colours and rich textures of my local landscape have found their way into my Ebb and Flow collection.
I am inspired by repeating patterns, textures, colours, unusual knitting techniques, and interesting garment constructions. I adore designing charts, but always include written instructions where I can. I’ll often include optional embellishment techniques such as embroidery, duplicate stitch, tassels and pompoms to add further interest and fine details to knitted items, and I’ll include instructions and diagrams in my patterns to help knitters achieve the same effects.
Finally, I am currently on a mission to share my love of mosaic knitting, designing character motifs and interesting repeating patterns using this simple and modern colourwork technique.
