Port Clyde
Port Clyde is worked flat in front and back pieces from the bottom up. Shoulders are seamed using the three-needle bind off technique and sides are seamed from hem to underarm using a mattress stitch. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armhole and sleeves knit in the round to the cuff. Instructions are also included for a sleeveless version.
Texture is the main attraction in this dynamic, openwork pullover. The stitch pattern offers the opportunity to mingle colors in unique ways, taking into consideration the layer that will be worn underneath.
I have always been drawn to bodies of water. Living on the coast of Maine I notice the tides and the ocean’s ever changing palette of colors and surface textures. Port Clyde was inspired by the small ripples that densely impact the water surface when the wind blows.

Needles
US 4– 3.5 mm circular needle with a cable length of at least 32” / 81 cm (or needle size to obtain gauge)- for Main Fabric, Hem and Sleeves.
One extra needle in size US 4– 3.5 mm for three-needle bind-off.
US 3– 3.25 mm circular needle with a cable length of 16” / 40.5 cm (or one needle size smaller than size used to obtain gauge)- for Neckline and Cuff.
This pattern uses the magic loop technique for the sleeves and cuffs. Double-pointed needles or smaller circumference cable lengths can be substituted.
Needles with pointed tips such as those used for lace work best for this pattern.
