The Portmoak Moss beanie design was inspired by an autumn afternoon walk through Portmoak Moss near Loch Leven in Fife. The daylight gradually changes to darkness. The swirling wind picks up the leaves and scatters them on the ground. The changing light filters through the bare-branched trees, silhouetting them against the dewy sunset sky.

Simple black and white contrasts the daylight and darkness, while the fair isle sections represent the leaf covered ground and silhouetted trees. The swirling crown represents the blustery autumn winds.
