Primarlial
Primarlial
by Corrado Lark
The Backstory:
Marle it! Knit it! Twist it!
Primarlial is like the “bop-it” of triangle shawls. It primarily (…pun intended) uses a standard triangle-shawl construction, with two sections of short rows to grow out the wingspan of the shawl without it becoming too deep a triangle.
Marling two yarns together and then holding one color single gives a lot of depth to the striping and plenty of texture, though you’re mostly knitting in garter stitch.
I had a little fun with the lace sections as well, weaving the yarn in and out as you knit at times. This blends the primary colors I used to give you some of the green, orange, and purple undertones..
Overall, I had a blast knitting and designing this one, and hope you love knitting it as well!
The Needs:
- US 5 (3.75mm) 40” circular needle.
- Six stitch markers and a clip on stitch marker to mark RS.
- Color A: 400 yards/100 grams of Murky Depths Dyes Single Ply Fingering, in the “Picante” colorway. A red. Color B: 400 yards/100 grams of Murky Depths Dyes Single Ply Fingering, in the “Turmeric” colorway. A yellow. Color C: 400 yards/100 grams of Murky Depths Dyes Single Ply Fingering, in the “Electric Lady Land” colorway. A blue.
- Gauge: N/A. There are many textured stitch patterns, often alternating holding the yarn double and single, so don’t bother. If you think you’re gauge is tight, go up a needle size. If you think it’s loose, go down a size. The choice is up to you!
- Finished Dimensions: To match my sample, shoot for a 70” base and 22” height triangle when blocking.
