PUUC
The word Puuc is derived from the Maya term for “hill” and describes the architectural style of the ancient Maya. It was while vacationing in the Yucatan that inspired this sock design. The moving rib reminds me of both the hills as well as the ancient ruins of the Maya. Notice the Cenote at the foot of the sock. Cenote is from the Maya term dzonot, meaning “well”. I was also intrigued by the many cenotes in the Yucatan.
This sock is knit in the round from cuff to toe, with a heel flap design. The ribbed cuff moves smoothly into the design and is quite enjoyable to knit.
This pattern is currently exclusive to Knit Sock Club members, but will be released to the public in 2012.
