This luxuriously cabled cardigan updates a classic masculine style with a modern slimmer fit in the sleeves. Radmere’s trimly tailored shoulders are crowned with an extra-large shawl collar, and the densely cabled fabric in Shelter makes it warm enough to wear as a jacket in soft autumn weather. The intricate stitchwork will show to best advantage in light or bright colors; imagine it in a striking red like Long Johns or a mellow grey like Sweatshirt for very different effects.
This pattern is part of Michele Wang’s CAPSULE Collection for Brooklyn Tweed. You can purchase all patterns in this collection as an e-book at brooklyntweed.com
Construction
- The cardigan is worked in pieces from the bottom up and sewn together. The collar stitches are picked up around the front edges and back neck edge. The collar is then worked flat and shaped using Short Rows: Turn & Slip Method.
- The Sloped Bind Off is used when shaping the armholes, shoulders, and sleeve caps.
