Ramage Socks
I am updating all my patterns and am making them free to download from Ravelry. However, I am happy to encourage donations for a charity close to my heart - the Macmillan Cancer Support, so please feel free to click here.
These quick-to-knit top down socks with a heel flap were designed to mimic ladies socks of yesteryear. There was a time when only the tops of the socks would be seen above the boots – hence the elongated rib down the back of socks. The lovely lace pattern down the front is a fast 12 row repeat that would be a great sock for the new sock knitter who is ready to take on the challenge of their first lace project.
The heel and toe can be changed if you prefer, and the foot and leg length can be adjusted for a custom fit.
The name Ramage was my grandmother’s maiden name, and also one of my mother’s middle names. Sadly, although both women were passionate knitters, they never had the chance to knit these up – ladies, these are for you with love xx
The yarn used is the economical Knit Picks Palette which comes in so many gorgeous colors that you can knit up many pairs without getting bored! You can, of course, use any other fingering yarn that gets gauge and they will look just as good!
