Randomly Hopeful Kerchief
Because the handspun silk from Handspun Hope is precious yarn, I wanted to make something that would use every bit of the skein and that I could wear all year long.
The simple stockinette stitch is the perfect backdrop for the random, slubby nature of the handspun yarn.
The pattern is written in stockinette stitch. However, if you would like to emphasize the slubiness of the yarn, you can purl a few stitches on the knit side or knit a few stitches on the purl side whenever you hit a particularly slubby part of the yarn.
This project uses two skeins of Borocera Silk. The skeins we sell at String Theory Yarn Co each contain 100 yards. To join the second skein, we suggest using the Russian Join. (Knit Purl Hunter has a great video of this technique on YouTube.)
You can easily make a bigger scarf by using more of a different yarn, just remember to start the decreases when you get halfway through your yarn.
Gauge is not particularly important, but it will impact the amount of yarn you need or the size of your kerchief.
The Borocera Silk does relax when blocked and will increase the size of your finished project.
