An allover shaker rib gives this sweater its bookish appeal. A boxy shape that’s smart too, this cardigan features subtle fit enhancements from compound raglan curves, hidden short rows at center back neck, and gentle waist darts that keep the boxy fit flattering, not overwhelming.
The textural design lines of shaker rib spotlight unique shaping details throughout the garment: a deep V-neckline and unique ornamental sleeve shaping that is mirrored on right and left sides. The not-quite-shawl collar is double-thick with an inner facing (worked all-in-one piece with the rest of the sweater) that creates a finish that’s both clean and cozy. Optional button or clasp closures may be added, with invisible buttonholes concealed on the inside of the cardigan facing.
Worked completely seamlessly from the top down, choose from different length options for both body and sleeves to get a custom proportion that’s just right for you. Try the garment on as you go and make length adjustments as you work to get the perfect fit.

Construction
- Cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down, beginning at center back neck. Stitches are cast on for first half of collar extension, which is shaped with short rows, then worked flat to half of target length and placed on hold. Stitches for second half of collar extension are picked up from cast on edge of first half, then worked as for first half. Stitches are picked up across side edge of collar extension and yoke is worked flat to the underarm. Upon completion of raglan yoke, Body and Sleeves are divided and worked separately. Sleeve stitches are placed on hold and the body is worked flat to chosen length (semi-cropped/classic/tall). Sleeves are then worked circularly to the cuff, with mirrored decorative shaping. The collar facing is tacked down using a lighter weight yarn or embroidery thread. If concealed buttonhole closures have been worked, buttons are sewn on to finish.
