Rena's Lily Basket Scarf
I like adding imagery to the pattern name when a stitch reminds me of something. Also because my grandmothers were so special to me, I add their name to make a piece special. This is for my great-grandma Rena who loved flowers and when this stitch came together for me, it reminded me of a basket. One of my favorite flowers is a lily, so now we have the name, Rena’s Lily Baskets.
This is a total scrap buster project. I had several small balls of yarn, but tried to use those that blended well. I had some browns, oranges and greens which I may try separately, but for this, the charcoal, black, gray and coral colors seemed to do well once I started.
I started with a swatch to test out this new combination of stitches, but as I went along and the colors blended together, it easily became a scarf.
The yarn and hook totally dependent on your choice - any 3, 4 or 5 weight would certainly work fine and adjust the hook according to what the yarn calls for. I listed a 3 light with a G hook, and a 4 Medium with a J hook in the required yarn, but only because you could use either depending on your desired outcome.
I plan to use the same stitch in a future wrap, and also a blanket or throw - obviously just make it wider and longer, and a scarf turns into a wrap or blanket.
