Pricing update: I have increased my prices to more accurately represent the work that has gone into the making of my patterns. All my patterns have increased in prices, however my newer designs have increased more than my old ones, as I feel I have learned a lot over the years and the quality of my newer designs is higher. The price listed reflects what I believe is fair for the work put into the design, however I understand that the price increases may be inaccessible to some and am offering some tiered discounts for those that need them.

A “Choose What You Pay” model is available for this pattern, allowing both financial accessibility and fair pricing. The buyer may pay what they are able while still valuing the hard work invested to create this design. Use the codes below in order to pay the price listed after each. Choose whichever price works best for you!

  • No Code – Full Price = $11.00 CAD
  • PK10 – 10% off = $9.90 CAD
  • PK20 – 20% off = $8.80 CAD
  • PK30 – 30% off = $7.70 CAD

I also offer a Buy 3, Get 1 Free discount! Add any 4 of my patterns to your cart, and use the code BUY3GET1 to get the 4th pattern free! Note: the free pattern will be the lowest priced pattern.

The Ridgeline Headband is a part of the Ridgeline Collection, to go along with the Ridgeline Mitts and Ridgeline Toque! The headband is knit in the hurdle stitch. This pattern is knit up in two versions, bulky and super bulky! I used Swish Bulky for the bulky version and Universal Yarns Posh Alpaca for the super bulky version. You could really use any bulky/super bulky yarn as long as you can match either gauge!

Sizes offered:
Measurement is the circumference around the headband laid flat (unstretched).
X-Small: ~15 inch circumference (unstretched) , 3.5-4 inch width
Small: ~16 inch circumference (unstretched) , 3.5-4 inch width
Medium: ~17 inch circumference (unstretched), 4-4.5 inch width
Large: ~18 inch circumference (unstretched) , 4-4.5 inch width

These measurements are based off of my sample piece, yours may vary slightly depending on gauge and tension. This stitch pattern is quite stretchy. Please choose a size that is approximately 4-6 inches smaller than your head circumference. You are also free to modify the length of this pattern as you desire, these sizes are intended to be a general guideline for your headband circumference and for yardage estimation.

NEEDLES REQUIRED:
6.5 mm / US 10.5 (bulky version)
8 mm / US 11 (super bulky version)
Can use straight or circular needles
may need other size needles to meet gauge

GAUGE:
Bulky (6.5 mm needles):
8 sts x 10 rows equals a 2x2 inch square/5x5 cm in hurdle stitch, flat, after blocking

Super Bulky (8 mm needles):
6 sts x 8 rows equals a 2x2 inch square/5x5 cm in hurdle stitch, flat, after blocking

YARN REQUIRED:
Any bulky or super bulky yarn you can meet gauge with. For my bulky version I used KnitPicks Swish Bulky (137 yds/100 g) in the colour nutmeg. For the super bulky version I used Universal Yarns - Posh Alpaca (98 yds/100g) in the colour Birch. Since super bulky yarn can vary in thickness by quite a lot, I would say posh alpaca is similar in thickness to LB Thick & Quick. The pattern should work fine with a thicker yarn, but will be a more dense fabric (and could be more difficult to meet gauge).

YARDAGE REQUIRED:
note the yardage/weight varies between different yarns, so if you are using alternative yarns, make sure to calculate based on the yardage not the weight.

Bulky:
X-Small: ~31 grams/42 yards
Small: ~33 grams/45 yards
Medium: ~39 grams/53 yards
Large: ~41 grams/56 yards

Super Bulky:
X-Small: ~23 grams/23 yards
Small: ~25 grams/25 yards
Medium: ~31 grams/31 yards
Large: ~33 grams/33 yards

Yardage is an approximation. The length measurements are a rough estimation but you are welcome to adjust to fit your head as needed.
