Pricing update: I have increased my prices to more accurately represent the work that has gone into the making of my patterns. All my patterns have increased in prices, however my newer designs have increased more than my old ones, as I feel I have learned a lot over the years and the quality of my newer designs is higher. The price listed reflects what I believe is fair for the work put into the design, however I understand that the price increases may be inaccessible to some and am offering some tiered discounts for those that need them.

A “Choose What You Pay” model is available for this pattern, allowing both financial accessibility and fair pricing. The buyer may pay what they are able while still valuing the hard work invested to create this design. Use the codes below in order to pay the price listed after each. Choose whichever price works best for you!

  • No Code – Full Price = $11.00 CAD
  • PK10 – 10% off = $9.90 CAD
  • PK20 – 20% off = $8.80 CAD
  • PK30 – 30% off = $7.70 CAD

I also offer a Buy 3, Get 1 Free discount! Add any 4 of my patterns to your cart, and use the code BUY3GET1 to get the 4th pattern free! Note: the free pattern will be the lowest priced pattern.

The Ridgeline Mitts are a cozy take on a basic mitten pattern with an added texture section! The finger section of the mitts is knit with the hurdle stitch, which gives it some lovely texture! The mittens are knit cuff to fingers, with a thumb gusset that is picked up (seamless, yay!). These are knit using super bulky yarn, I used Universal Yarns Posh Alpaca which is a light single ply super bulky. You can use any yarn that you can achieve gauge with!

SIZES OFFERED:
-measurement is the circumference around the palm of your hand (above and not including your thumb)
X-Small: ~6.7 inch circumference
Small: ~7.3 inch circumference
Medium: ~8 inch circumference
Large: ~8.7 inch circumference
X-Large: ~9.3 inch circumference

These measurements are based off of my sample piece, yours may vary slightly depending on gauge and tension. I recommend you choose a size where the measurement of the circumference of your palm is within about half an inch smaller or larger than the stated measurements, depending on your preference for fitted/or looser mitts The length of the mitts is customizable based on your hand length so only base your size on the circumference.

NEEDLES REQUIRED:
US10/6 mm
US10.5/6.5 mm
-32+ inch circulars for magic loops method (you can also use 9 inch circulars or DPNs if you prefer, though pattern is written for magic loop method)
may need other size needles to meet gauge

GAUGE:
12 sts x 18 rows equals a 4x4 inch square/10x10 cm in stockinette in the round, after blocking
3 sts x 4.5 rows equals a 1x1 inch square/2.5x2.5 cm

YARN REQUIRED:
Any super bulky yarn you can meet gauge with. I used Universal Yarns - Posh Alpaca (98 yds/100g) in the colour Birch. Since super bulky yarn can vary in thickness by quite a lot, I would say Posh Alpaca is similar in thickness to Lion Brand Thick & Quick. The pattern should work fine with a thicker yarn, but will be a more dense fabric (and could be more difficult to meet gauge).

YARDAGE REQUIRED:
note the yardage/weight varies between different yarns, so if you are using alternative yarns, make sure to calculate based on the yardage not the weight.
Yardage is the TOTAL yardage required for both mittens

X-Small: ~66 grams/64 yards
Small: ~77 grams/75 yards
Medium: ~89 grams/87 yards
Large: ~99 grams/97 yards
X-Large: ~107 grams/105 yards

Yardage is an approximation. I have included a fair bit of hand length for each size so this should accommodate all hand sizes and will likely be an overestimation. If you have extremely long hands, I would go with a little extra yardage just to be safe!
