Romantiikka is a cute little shawlette, light like a summer breeze. It will cover your shoulders when the evening gets chillier or cool winds make you want to grab something around you.

The shawlette has the form of a long triangle. It is worked mostly in garter stitch and has a leafy border. Romantiikka is started from the narrow tip by casting on a few stitches. The shawlette is gradually widened by increasing stitches on the garter section while the leaf repeats are worked on one edge. The decorative bind off is simple and stretchy.

One ply Finnsheep wool is used together with a strand of silk mohair. This combination makes a warm and airy texture which knits up quickly. You can use silk mohair to create a hazy look or brighten the shade of the shawlette. Romantiikka is an easy knit and suitable if you want to try lace knitting from a chart for the first time. For experienced knitters it is a light summer project.

Materials
Yarn: Jalovilla Vuona 100% wool from Finnish sheep breeds (205m = 50g) in colourway Vanamo 2839, 2 skeins, a total of 410m / 450 yards.
Rva Silmusolmu Mohair silkki 72% Kid mohair, 28% silkki (420m = 50g), in colourway Herttuatar 3423, 1 skein, a total of 420 m /460 yards.
Yarns are knitted together, using two strands of yarn throughout.

Alternative yarns
Any fingering weight wool together with a silk mohair, soft enough to wear next to skin. You can use any yarn, but this will affect the size of the shawlette, your gauge and the amount of yarn needed.

Needles: US 3.5 (4,0mm) circular needle of 80 cm.
Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch marker.

Gauge: approx. 16 sts and 26 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in garter st with US 6 (4,0mm) needle, blocked.

Gauge is not important for this design. You can knit the shawlette with a tighter or looser gauge or use another yarn and get a bigger or smaller shawl.

Size: 35 x 170 cm / 14 x 67 inch.

Romantiikka-huivi on sievä pikku huivi, kuin kevyt kesäinen henkäys. Se laskeutuu harteille juuri sopivasti, kun kesäilta viilenee tai tuuli puhaltelee ja haluat kääriytyä lämpimään.

Huivi on muodoltaan pitkulainen kolmio ja se on pääosin ainaoikein-neuletta. Alareunan koristeena on toistuva lehdykkäkuvio. Neulominen aloitetaan kapeasta kärjestä ja muoto luodaan vähitellen lisäyksin ja kavennuksin samalla kun toiseen reunaan neulotaan pitsilehtiä. Koristeellinen päättely on yksinkertainen ja joustava.

Huivi syntyy nopeasti suomenlampaan luonnonvärisestä luomuvillasta, johon kesän sävyjä ja pehmeää kuohkeutta tuo käsinvärjätty silkkimohair. Langat neulotaan yhdessä. Mohairlangan avulla voi huivin sävyttää tasaisen hempeäksi tai railakkaammaksi.

Romantiikka on helppo neulottava. Se sopii ensimmäiseksi pitsineuleeksi, jos haluat kokeilla pitsineuleen neulomista kaaviosta. Kokeneille neulojille huivi on kesäinen kevyt projekti.

Vaihtoehtoiset langat:
Fingering-vahvuiset langat yhdessä silkkimohairin kanssa, kun langat ovat riittävän pehmeitä käytettäväksi ihoa vasten. Voit käyttää mitä lankaa haluat, mutta tämä vaikuttaa neuleen kokoon, neuletiheyteen ja tarvittavan langan määrään.

Puikot: 4,0 mm pyöröpuikko, pituus 80 cm.
Tarvikkeet: Neula päättelyyn, silmukkamerkki.

Tiheys: noin 16 s ja 26 krs = 10 cm ainaoikein-neuletta 4,0 mm puikoilla, kasteltuna ja pingotettuna.

Tiheys ei ole merkittävää tässä ohjeessa. Voit neuloa huivin tiukemmalla tai löysemmällä tiheydellä. Silloin tuloksena on pienempi tai suurempi huivi.
