Sakura mittens
Sakura is a mitten pattern featuring stranded colourwork. The mitten is knit with a ribbed cuff that can be folded inwards so that no wind, rain or snow can get in. Sakura is the Japanese word for cherry blossom, and this is what the colourwork pattern was inspired by.
The mittens are knit bottom-up, with a gusset for fit and a ribbed cuff that can be folded to the inside for warmth.
The pattern comes in one sizes only and should fit a medium women’s hand at the given gauge. Other sizes can be obtained by working with slightly thicker/thinner yarn and/or at a different gauge.
You’ll need approximately 45 to 75 grams of fingering weight yarn in the following amounts:
- Approximately 30-50 grams of main colour
- Approximately 15-25 grams of contrast colour
Yarn + pattern kits are available on my webshop.
Other materials required are a set of knitting needles for working small circumferences in the round in 2 sizes, at least 3 stitch markes, a small amount of waste yarn, and darning needle.
This pattern contains 4 pages. Basic instructions are 2 pages and then there are 2 additional pages of charts.
A big thank you goes out to my test knitters: Zoemakesit, Drahdiwawal, Missmootles, and Manula.
