Sammy Snail and Lil Ladybug are quick knits, and you can also use them as cute pincushions. The snail shell is worked in knitted stripes, and the ladybird pattern incorporates intarsia colour-work.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the toys are knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round).

A pair of 3.5mm straight single pointed knitting needles (US 4)

Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; one 100g/280m skein in each colour

SIZES
One size only - The finished ladybird is 9cm long x 5cm tall, and the snail is 13cm long x 9cm tall.

TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
