The name Sands of Time comes from the cable texture, like sandboard marks across a dune: there one moment, subtly changed the next.

The Sands of Time Beanie is knitted bottom up, starting with a neat Tubular Cast On. The pattern has written row by row instructions and it also includes a chart for the main cable pattern. The crown decreases are not charted, but written out row by row. Instructions for the Tubular Cast On and grafting are included.

Choose solid or softly tonal shades for a polished look, or try light speckles or tweed for added depth. Knit in sport-weight yarn held together with silk mohair.

If you want to skip the mohair, choose a DK-weight or light worsted-weight yarn and use the sport-weight meterage for yardage guidance.

The cyclamen sample is knitted in De Rerum Natura Ulysse (100% merino wool, 185 m / 200 yds / 50 g) held together with De Rerum Natura Bérénice (55% superkid mohair, 25% silk, 20% wool, 210 m / 230 yds / 25g, both in the Confiture De Rose colorway.
