EN: SCHMETTERLING shawl (German for butterfly) is a silky, soft and extraordinary accessory with a lot of knitting fun. It is knitted with two yarn weights and textures, one Fingering (non-hairy) and one Lace Mohair (hairy). The combination of the yarns makes the design light and airy. The pattern is inspired by velvet and playful butterfly wings. The design was also influenced by silk fabric and yarns.

The shawl has an asymmetrical triangular shape and it is knitted flat from one corner to the opposite edge. The stitch pattern is made of a Stockinette and Weave Stitch stripes combination. The width of the stripes is varying through the pattern and creates an interesting look. The shape is created with stitch increases. The edge stitches are knitted in Garter and Slipped Stitch.

Hand dyed yarns are recommended for this design to underline a soft color flow of the idea behind the design.

DE: Das Tuch SCHMETTERLING ist ein seidenweiches, zartes und außergewöhnliches Accessoire mit viel Abwechslung und Strickspaß. Es wird aus zwei Garnqualitäten, einem Merino Faden in Fingering Stärke und einem Mohair Faden in Lace Stärke gestrickt, deren Wechsel für eine besondere Leichtigkeit bei dem Design sorgt. Das dabei entstehende Muster erinnert an die Schmetterlingsflügel mit samtweicher und verspielter Oberfläche. Das Tuch ist außerdem von Stoffen und Garnen aus Seide inspiriert.

Das Design hat eine asymmetrische Dreiecksform und wird von einer Spitze zu der gegenüberliegenden Kante in Hin- und Rückreihen gestrickt. Das Muster besteht aus Streifen im Glatt Rechts sowie im Rauten Muster. Die Breite der Streifen variiert dabei regelmäßig und sorgt für eine besondere Optik. Die asymmetrische Dreiecksform wird mit Maschenzunahmen erreicht. Die Randmaschen sind im Kraus Rechts Muster und abgehobenen Maschen gestrickt.

Für das Tuch werden handgefärbte Garne empfohlen, um die besondere Optik und die Designidee mit einem leichten Farbverlauf zu unterstreichen.
