Scotchbroom Wrap is a lightweight wrap sweater featuring broomstick lace sleeves and a flattering V neckline. Knit top down and fully customizable, it’s designed for easy layering and comfortable wear across seasons.

The broomstick lace stitch, inspired by a classic crochet technique, creates an airy texture that’s surprisingly easy to knit. It adds movement and drape to the fabric and gives the wrap its distinctive look.

Design Details

The V neckline and adjustable waist belt create a softly shaped silhouette that layers easily over dresses, tanks, or tees. The broomstick lace sleeves add openness and movement while the body stays smooth and structured.

Because the fit and lengths are customizable, you can wear it closer and cropped or longer and relaxed depending on how you style it.

Pattern Highlights

Construction Overview

Scotchbroom Wrap is worked flat from the top down. You begin with an i cord cast on at the back neck, followed by short row shoulder shaping. The back is worked flat to the armhole, then stitches for each front shoulder are picked up and worked down with V neck increases. After the armhole join, the body is worked as one piece.

The body stitches remain live and are finished with a knit on ribbed waistband that forms the belt. Sleeves are picked up and worked in the round using a simple four round repeat that creates the broomstick lace texture. The sleeves finish with decreases and a ribbed cuff.

Yarn Notes

Miss La Motte Lustre Fingering gives the fabric beautiful drape and clear stitch definition, which really lets the lace pattern open up after blocking. The blend of merino, silk, and mohair creates a fluid fabric that moves naturally across the shoulders.

Colorway and fiber choice both show up strongly in this design, so tonal shades, silk blends, and plant fibers all shine in their own way.

Fiber: 50% superwash merino, 15% kid mohair, 15% mulberry silk, 20% polyamide
Yardage: 437 yds / 400 m per 100 g skein
