Sea Urchin Beret
I have a fascination with sea urchins, and I always like to spend a lot of time looking at them when I’m visiting any aquarium. Of course, I had to combine my love for sea urchins with my love for yarn!
This hat fits loosely, though I’ve designed it in sizes x-small, small, medium, large and x-large. I currently wear either a small if I want a closer fitting hat, or a medium if I want it very slouchy. If you are a loose knitter, or want a tighter fitting hat, I would suggest going down a needle size (size US9) and use a light chunky for heavy worsted weight yarn. This hat was made using Cascade 128 Superwash, which is a very dense and heavy yarn. If you wish to have a tighter brim, you may go down one or two sizes for the brim only.
This would also look lovely in Malabrigo Mecha. The single-ply nature of the yarn will create a more organic fabric, and the kettle-dyed colors will give a lovely sheen.
