This lightweight top is ideal for spring and summer—its pretty lace detail alludes to beach holidays, ocean breezes, and frothy sea waves. This is a feminine, relaxed, and casual sweater, to be worn equally well with a dress, pretty skirt, or your favorite shorts. Most of the knitting is easy, with a combination of stockinette and reverse stockinette as the main pattern.

Worked from the bottom up in one piece starting with a provisional cast on, the top features the classic Seawaves Stitch on the sleeves, highlighting the curve of the shoulders. The neck opening is obtained by a simple bind-off followed by a cast-on. After working the other side from top to bottom, the body border is worked in the round in the Seawaves Stitch pattern, using the provisional cast on stitches and the live stitches from the other end.

The top is knitted flat but long circular needles are recommended to accommodate the large number of stitches. The shorter needles are used for the Seawaves border, worked in the round.

Sample is 40.25”; model is 32”
