Selena
Selena is a semi-circular shawlette worked in a sock weight yarn.
It is knitted sideways in striped garter stitch pattern. The floral border is added afterwards by picking up the stitches along the curved edge and knitting top-down.
The size can be adjusted by working more stripes and more border repeats (instructions are given) or by using different weight yarn and/or using different size needles.
The design is simple enough to be easily followed by a novice lace knitter yet absorbing to hold the interest of an advanced knitter.
One should also be familiar with basic crochet technique for finishing off.
The shawlette uses only 1 full skein of base colour yarn and 0.55 skein of contrast colour giving the grand total of 620 meters. Perfect for using odd skeins of yarn.
For the sample I have used Juno Fibre Arts Alice Sock (100g/400m) colours Boudoir (contrast) and Potpouri (main).
The pattern is written and lace border is also charted.
Selena is very feminine and elegant. Perfect for any season!
