This design is the second of a series—twelve cowls in sequence knitting for 2024. This month, we’re working the {k3, p3} sequence in the round, just like last month, but we’re having a little bit of fun with the spiral, first working over a multiple of 6 stitches plus 3, then 6 stitches plus 2, then 6 stitches plus 1. Next month, we’ll work a flat rectangle and seam it in an interesting way to shape the cowl. Traditional instructions and charts are included in the pattern, as well as sequence knitting instructions.

The sample measures 56 cm in circumference x 24.5 cm tall (22” x 9.75”); instructions are provided in the pattern to help you re-size the project to suit your needs.

This is an easy project. The techniques you will need to know, or learn, to complete the cowl are:

• cast on and bind off;
• knit and purl;
• purl 2 together;
• working in the round.
