The mittens are worked in the round from the bottom to top using 5 double pointed needles, followed by knitting the thumb using 4 double pointed needles.
Begin with needles US 1.5 (2.5 mm) and knit the edge, the Latvian braids and the cuff chart pattern. Then change to needles US 2 (2.75 mm) and knit the body of the mittens chart pattern.
The size is women’s medium but it is easy to change the size using smaller or bigger needles: for women’s small use needles US 1 (2.25 mm) and US 1 (2.5 mm) and for women’s large use needles US 2 (2.75 mm) and US 2 ( 3 mm).
For a pair of mittens you will need 1 skein of main color, 1 skein of contrast color 1, 1 skein of contrast color 2 and 1 skein of contrast color 3 and 4 or you may use any fingering weight leftover yarn you have.
The pattern comes in English and Icelandic.
Uppskriftin er bæði á ensku og íslensku.
