For this pullover by Lis Smith, a lace pattern from her first design for Laine — the Sido shawl — is revisited and reimagined. The familiar lace leaves with delicate cable crosses are arranged to cascade down the yoke of a simple pullover, now complemented by an oblong panel of bobbles that evolves the motif. Originally inspired by summer rose trellises, the design also reflects their quiet beauty in winter, when branches are dotted with persimmon-coloured rose hips. After completing the lace, cable and bobble yoke, the sleeves and body are finished in simple stockinette stitch.

NOTES
The Sidonie pullover is worked seamlessly from the top down in the round. After completing the neckline ribbing, a round of bobbles is worked, followed by short rows to shape the back neck. The yoke is then worked from the lace, cable and bobble chart, with increases worked before and during the chart to shape the garment. Once the yoke has reached the desired depth, the work is divided for body and sleeves. Both are then continued separately in the round in Stockinette Stitch, and finished with ribbed cuffs and hem.
