For the love of smocking! It makes such a beautiful sculptured pattern. Silvan is a drop shoulder pullover with a split opening for the neck that has short rows along the top back to give a more comfortable fit at the front neck. It is made with Julie Asselin Nurtured, which shows off the smocking beautifully!

Notes:
This drop shoulder pullover is constructed from the top down. The upper back and front are worked separately down to the underarm, with short rows worked at the back to shape the back neck. The yoke is joined, and the body is worked in the round down to the hem. The shoulders are seamed after the body is complete so you can make the neck opening fit as desired. They are joined to create an exposed seam, but they can be seamed with right sides facing if you prefer a hidden seam. Stitches are picked up around the armholes to work the Stockinette sleeves from the top down. The body length is easily adjusted. On the sample the sleeves were made full length; that length is easily adjusted. The pattern includes quite a few size-specific directions; highlighting your size throughout is recommended to follow the pattern more easily.
