Single Double Tribal Hat
One fast and easy, fun, reversible, comfy, trendy, unisex, warm fall / winter / early spring beanie.
This combination of single and double brioche stitches gives a simple “Tribal” pattern in interesting wavy texture. Just choose your favorite cheerful color combination. This pattern can easily be converted for flat knitting.
You need:
1. Skills: basic brioche-knitting knowledge, knitting in the round; If you are familiar with double brioche stitches, you already assume what it’s all about;
2. Needles:
* 16” (40cm) circular needle and 3 (or 4) +1 DPN’s, in US 4 / 3,5mm for women’s hat (or 3,75mm);
* 16” (40cm) circular needle and 3 (or 4) +1 DPN’s, in US 7 / 4,5mm for men’s hat;
* (two) tapestry needle(s) for weaving in ends;
3. Yarns - shown (women’s size) beanie is made with budget friendly yarns, in total weight ~ 80gr:
a) MC (main color, on front side) approx. 40gr of Alize Superlana klasik (100gr-307yds/280m) in black (you can use any DK weight yarn);
b) CC (contrast color, on back side) approx. 40gr of Alize Superlana klasik (100gr-307yds/280m) in white;
4. 11 stitch markers.
SIZE / Dimensions ( this is very elastic pattern):
a) women’s hat: depth – 23cm/9”, circumference 47.5cm/19”, for head circumference up to 58cm/23”;
b) men’s hat: depth – 25cm/10”, circumference 50cm/20”, for head circumference up to 60cm/24”;
Gauge: 18 sts and 30 rows in fixed double brioche motive into 10 x 10cm / 4 x 4” (US 4 / 3,5mm)
