This versatile and eye-catching shawl is made up of hexagonal lace snowflakes nestled together. Since real-life snowflakes are unique, the pattern presents beginnings, middles, and ends to mix and match for a total of 27 possibilities. Knit the whole shawl using the same combination, use a different combination for each snowflake, or anything in between.

Work any Beginning (A, B, or C), then any Middle, then any End:
A-Beg, A-Mid, A-End
A-Beg, A-Mid, B-End
A-Beg, A-Mid, C-End
A-Beg, B-Mid, A-End
A-Beg, B-Mid, B-End
A-Beg, B-Mid, C-End
and so on.

If you list them all you will have 27. The pattern calls for 16, but if you want a giant cozy shawl get enough yarn for all of them! Each snowflake uses just under 30 yards of Aran weight wool.
