You won’t go off piste with this teddy pattern. Teddy the Aprés Ski Bear is ready for a day on the slopes for some winter sports, dressed in their hat, scarf, pair of skis and ski poles. And the poles and skis are removable if you want to make your bear suitable for a younger child.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, this toy is knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). A crochet hook is used to add a crochet border to the goggles, and to work single chains for the ski boot straps.

NEEDLES
A pair of 3.75mm single pointed knitting needles (US 5).

RECOMMENDED YARN
King Cole Big Value DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; up to 25g in each shade.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, toy eyes and nose, bamboo skewers for ski poles, craft sticks for skis, snap fasteners, glue and a pompom maker.

For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on (including long tail, cable and backward loop methods), casting off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
