Snowdrift Mittens are a one skein DK project featuring lush cables and a classic winter look. Warm, cozy, and satisfying to knit, they make an ideal quick project and an easy gift.

Available in three sizes, Snowdrift Mittens offer a comfortable fit while showcasing a rich cable motif across the back of the hand. The pattern includes written and charted instructions along with video tutorials for support along the way.

Design Details

A ribbed cuff flows into the cable panel across the back of the hand while the palm stays smooth and practical for everyday wear. The cables continue into the fingertip shaping so the texture carries cleanly through the entire mitten.

Pattern Highlights

  • One skein project
  • Classic cable texture
  • Three sizes included
  • Written and charted instructions with tutorials

Construction Overview

Snowdrift Mittens are worked seamlessly in the round from the cuff up. The ribbed cuff is followed by the cable panel across the back of the hand while the palm remains smooth.

Thumb increases are worked across the palm and placed on waste yarn while the hand is completed. After fingertip decreases, the top is closed with Kitchener stitch. The thumb stitches are then picked up and worked in the round to finish.

Yarn Notes

We knit our sample in Cosy Posy Yarn Co Swoon DK, a soft DK blend that keeps the fabric warm while still showing the cables clearly.

DK yarns with good stitch definition work especially well here so the cable motif stands out. Wool blends add warmth and elasticity, while softer blends make a cozy everyday mitten.
