Some Like It Hot is another one of my favorite movies, a rollicking (black & white!) tale of two 1920s era musicians masquerading as women in an all girls’ band after they witness a mob hit in Chicago. Along the way they meet Marilyn Monroe and discover true love, sort of.

This shawl is an easy advanced beginner project that works up into a generous triangular shawl decorated with diagonal lines of eyelets and a much-easier-than-it-looks criss cross motif. Since the lace is the star of this show, specked yarns are ideal for this project. To avoid unwanted pooling, alternate skeins every few rows.

Seek out Spun Right Round, or your favorite indie dyer, and pick up 2 skeins of at least 400 yards of any drapey fingering weight yarn. Then grab the popcorn and watch Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis discover how women really feel.
