Song of the Sea
This versatile cowl develops in lovely Art Deco waves. A beautiful cowl can be made from one 100g skein of 4ply/fingering yarn.
If you would prefer a scarf or shawl, see the new Siren Song pattern, based on Song of the Sea.
Customise your beautiful project, with the revised pattern:
- Choice of borders: you can reduce the tendency for the edges to roll in some yarns.
- Easier to use-up all your yarn: now starts with the biggest waves, so you can easily adjust the number of smaller waves that you need to complete your project.
- More flexible: tips to help you modify it for yarns from laceweight to DK.
- Want a custom size? The pattern walks you through the calculations needed to make a size to suit you, in your preferred yarn.
Two standard sizes are given in the pattern. The snug cowl would fit neatly inside your coat collar. You can wear the long cowl singly to look decorative and drapy, or twist it up double to be cosy.
Knitted in the round, it is an easy piece for an intermediate lace knitter since there are no fancy stitches. It is more about the fun of watching the developing pattern unfold.
A novice lace knitter with experience of knitting in the round on other projects would also find this a straightforward first lace project.
Both written instructions AND charts are given.

I just have to share some of my favourite projects made so far. Thank you to everyone who has let me share their beautiful projects on the pattern page since the pattern was published. Be inspired to make the pattern your own, too.
