I have added a pdf with short row instructions for this shawl. Please download both pdfs.

Spring Awakening is a crescent-shaped shawl knitted from the bottom-up in a sock weight yarns.

It features garter stitch body with a wide lace border. I have used two different colours and yarns to achieve distinct wave effect. Shimmery/sparkly choice of yarns only add to it.

The shawl can easily be customised to any size (all directions are in the pattern).
Pictures show 2 versions:
Large version - uses 2.25 skeins (900meters) of The natural Dye Studio yarn in light blue and Fyberspates Sheilas sock sparkle yarn 0.45 skein (180meters) in denim blue. For this one I have knitted 28 lace repeats.

The small version - a shawlette uses Wollmeise: 50grams (ca210meters) colour Taube (navy/purple) and 75grams (ca250m) of colour Petit Poison no5 (purple red). I have done 15 lace repeats only and I would not go any smaller than that.
I have also played with colour a little bit hence I used similar amounts of both yarns.
For medium size (21 lace pattern repeats) I have used ca 113g(400m) of blue colour (Wollmeise Neptune) and 105g (370m) of green (Wollmeise Grunfink).

The pattern is written and charted, all explained how to use charts in notes. It is important to read them!

In overall it is pretty easy and enjoyable pattern.
Lace is worked on both sides, however, it in not to complicated and should not discourage a novice lace knitter.
There is a very little grafting to be done (3 stitches only!), which can easily be substituted by three needle bind-off.

There are a few suggestions included in the pattern to achieve different effects, experiment!

Note for those who prefer to do stocking stitch on the main body:
when you have 35 st on the needle only, knit as follows:
K3, K3tog, K2tog 5 times, K3, K2tog 5 times, S2KP, K3
then follow the instructions until you have 13 (not 11) st on the needle and shape top border according to the instruction. That way the shawl will block better as stocking stitch is not as stretchy as garter stitch

This shawl makes a very prtetty and very useful accesory for any season.
