Introducing Alison Rendall Fair Isle Knitting Stjarna Smucks in chunky Jamiesons of Shetland Heather Aran that are stunning both from above and underneath! The pattern is featured in the SWW Annual 2022.

Alison explains the inspiration behind the slippers:
Shetland winters are notoriously long and hard, however, one aspect that I look forward to is being able to admire the truly dark night skies. A frosty but clear night provides spectacular views of the constellations and the Milky Way. When stargazing I like to reflect on our skilful forbears, the Vikings, who used the stars as they navigated the seas. The Stjarna smucks design is loosely based on these winter stars, as they join up to form a pattern.

These smucks are knitted flat from the back of the foot, down and under the heel.
