About the pattern
The Sugarloaf mittens are cosy and snug for cold weather, and can be worked as either fingerless mittens, or full hand mittens, you choose! They are worked in waffle stitch on top of tge hand, with a flat palm for flexibility.
It is a quick and satisfying make, and works up very quickly in chunky yarn.
The pattern is available free on my web site, along with patterns for a matching hat and cowl. You can also purchase a convenient ebook pdf download of all 3 patterns. The ebook comes in both UK and US crochet terms options, and in standard and large print options (see details below). The pattern was initially published by Crochet Foundry in the December 2024 issue, and is available now for free, with added UK terms and large print options.

Sizes
The mittens come in 3 sizes, to fit all teen and adult hands.

Tension/Gauge
measured over waffle stitch on largest hook size,
3 repeats (9 stitches) = 10 cm / 4 inches

Skill level
This is an intermediate level pattern. It is a quick 1-2 day make for an experienced crocheter.
It uses waffle stitch worked in the round, including front post and back post stitches, and decreases to shape the peak.
