Sunset Primrose
Sunset Primrose is a garden-inspired cardigan (it’s a gardigan!!) knit seamlessly on circular needles from the top down. The yoke features stranded colorwork in a folksy floral motif. A column of steek stitches is built into the design for knitting in the round without interruption; the steek is then cut, and stitches picked up for the front button band and placket. (To knit a pullover version, simply eliminate the steek stitches.)
Sunset Primrose is designed to be slightly cropped and relaxed, with three quarter sleeves — perfect for springtime and transitional weather, when a season-spanning sweater is practical. Sleeve length and body length can easily be adjusted to suit your individual preference. The neckline has short row shaping; additional short rows at the back hem create a figure-flattering shape.
Pattern is written for 5 adult sizes with finished bust/chest measurements 36 (39, 42, 45, 48) inches.
The sample pictured was knit using Manos del Uruguay Milo, a blend of 65% wool, 35% linen (each skein is approx. 380 yards /350m, 100g) in these colors:
Potosi for the main color — 3 (3, 3, 3, 4) skeins
Roma for the contrasting color — 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) skein
Note that Ravelry categorizes Milo as a sport weight yarn; Manos del Uruguay describes it as DK weight. (Always check your gauge when substituting yarns.)
Although this pattern does not include specific instructions for reinforcing and cutting steeks, I’ve included links to a few excellent tutorials online.
