For those who are similarly nostalgic will know that this hat was inspired by a song from my Gen X childhood. I designed this bucket-style hat in a range of sizes, making it versatile & adaptable for everyone in your circle of family & friends.

This hat is made with DMC Eco Vita Raffia yarn. There are other raffia yarns on the market, but I haven’t tried any of them. Please check for gauge, and use a hook size needed to obtain gauge. If you find that the top of the hat is too big or too small, with the final circle going past or not quite reaching where the crown of your head transitions from flat to sloping vertically, you may go up or down a size in your hook or hat size. The hat is meant to fit somewhat snuggly, but as raffia has no elasticity, make sure there is some wiggle room.

You can make the brim wider & more floppy by adding more rounds to the brim. You can add stripes to to the body in different colors, or decorate it with crocheted motifs & flowers. Make it super vintage & cute by adding a huge blossom to the center front of the folded up brim!
