PATTERN NOTES
This hat is worked completely seamlessly by starting with a provisional cast on, such as Judy Becker’s magic cast on. The double brim is folded up and attached to the body of the hat. The body of the hat is worked, then attached on the inside to the brim with a 3 needle bind-off or kitchener stitch graft.
The twist in the fabric closes up the centre hole of the tube and, by folding the tube in half to create the double layers, it will stay closed when you need it to.
When worn as a slouch hat, the twist will keep it closed. If you find you’re getting a little warm, you can pull the hat to open up the twist a little and just let all that hot air out. To convert it to a cowl, simply tug the brim down around your neck and the twist will open up and slide over your head. When converting back to a hat, it is best to take it off completely, give it a shake to re-align the twist, then put it back on your head.
