…sometimes the soul needs a subtle contrast
the expression is equally enchanting
this is the story of Tamarix dalmatica…
Tamarix was inspired by the plant, and Tamarix dalmatica is the Latin name for the variety that grows in Dalmatia.
It is a rather unassuming tree that grows by the sea—literally in the very first row along the coast. To me, the Tamarix represents sheer strength, as it is exposed to fierce sea winds throughout the winter.
Yet, in the spring when it blooms, its branches are covered in countless tiny flowers, as if its crown were woven from grains of salt.
A subtle contrast, generous size, asymmetrical construction and beginner friendly pattern make Tamarix very special to my heart.
CONSTRUCTION
Tamarix is asymmetrical shawl worked flat from the tip towards the wide edge, with equally applied increases and decreases on both sides of the work to create a gently sideways slanting texture.
