Tameron
Tameron is a lace stole worked in one piece using a provisional cast on and is finished with lace end borders that are added last. Tameron is inspired by the “Frost Flowers” stitch pattern displayed on the cover of Barbara Walker’s A Treasury of Knitting Patterns. This is a charted pattern with notes and 11 full color photographs for direction and support.
I was introduced to the knitting and fiber world at a very young age because my mother (KayTheArky here on Ravelry) has been doing this for as long as I can remember. There were spinning wheels, spindles, fiber and knitting…LOTS of knitting. Although it was familiar to me, the seed planted a long time ago didn’t bloom until my husband and I moved to Albuquerque and I started knitting in July 2008. I think it bloomed instantly. It wasn’t at all what I remembered when I was a kid. I discovered I had been a knitter my whole life and never knew it. Within the first week my Mom introduced me to Barbara Walker’s Treasury books and I knew right away Babs and I would be best friends. I was completely seduced by her books filled with page after page of endless stitch patterns that could be put together in any combination to make anything you wanted. It was then that I realized I wasn’t just a knitter. I was an artist too; an artist who had waited 38 years to find her medium.
Tameron is a combination of both my excitement of stepping into the world of design and a nod to Barbara’s A Treasury of Knitting Patterns and that moment I held her book in my hands completely awestruck by the stitch pattern on it’s cover. A stitch pattern so perfect paired with this memory had to be represented in my first design. Entertaining and educating, I have had the most fun creating this pattern and now bringing it to Ravelry!
PS - Mom, I promise I’ll get your books back to you. All of them. Eventually.
