The Burrow is inspired by the crooked Weasly’s Burrow in Harry Potter. The staggered garter edge is directly inspired by the staircase in the scene where Molly, Hermoine, Ginny & Ron is wondering where Harry is after Ginny spotted his owl in the living room. Who wouldn’t like to snuggle up by their fireplace in a squishy shawl and have a sip of cocoa? I know I would!

The Burrow is a big, simple, beautiful, and textured shawl that allows you to really personalize every single section to taste/yarn you have available.

Required Skill Level:
Beginner Friendly.

Designed for any yarn and needles.
The featured shawl is knit in fingering weight on a 3,5 mm needle.

Gauge:
Not crucial for this design.

Construction:
Top-down, starting in the neck, increasing in both sides creating a crescent-shaped shawl.

I recommend a minimum of 150 grams for a shawl like this; 50 + 50 + 100 (sections A+B+C) grams as a good base for a fingering weight shawl in this pattern but you do NOT need a specific weight per section, this is designed with 100% room for any gauge, weight, needles, and grams!.

Equipment Needed

• A darning needle, scissors, and a progress keeper.

• Circular knitting needles, short and long. The long needle needs to be at least 100 cm long to accommodate all the stitches. The shorter needle is not necessary, but some find it makes it easier to start knitting the shawl.

• Note: Using a slightly larger needle than intended for your yarn creates a lovely drape!
