The Manhattan
The lights of the city twinkling in the distance, the crisp fall air, the warm sticky feel of chocolate covered hands….this jacket compliments them all. Double breasted with a pleated skirt, this jacket will give even the most feral of children (Gives daughter the side eye) a bit of sophistication and class. That is, until they tell the grocery store clerk about their bathroom habits.
This jacket also works up quick and outside of 1 (exactly one) tricky row, it’s something you can make while vegging out in front of Netflix after the heathens are finally in bed. You will also learn how to make pleats with this pattern, which are super cute and (once you get the hang of it) surprisingly easy. Further, the collar is added on last as a separate piece allowing you to play around with it and make up your own if you want to add your own custom flair to the piece. If you’re not feeling particularly adventurous, no worries. Included are instructions for a flat collar, popped collar, or a hood. Because options are glorious.
The unicorn applique is NOT INCLUDED in this pattern. I only put it on the one jacket because my daughter is on a huge unicorn kick and insists that they be on everything. I wanted her to actually WEAR this jacket, so there it is. But if you really, really have your heart set on adding the unicorn, shoot me a DM and I’ll tell you how I made it.
In addition to hook, yarn, 4 stitch markers, and measuring and sewing notions, you will need 6 large buttons (35mm+) to complete this jacket.
